Trudie Schils is assistant professor at the Economics department of the Maastricht University School of Business and Economics. She coordinates and teaches courses within the domain of social economics. She is also a researcher within the project ‘Sjoans’, centre for education opportunities of Maastricht University. Her research is twofold: on the one hand she is interested in the effects of labour market institutions (e.g. effects of unemployment benefits systems or collective agreements). On the other hand, she is interested in the determinants and effects of education and training of individuals (e.g. employed people, but also of school going children). In the past she has been a postdoctoral researcher at the Amsterdam Institute of Advanced Labour Studies of the University of Amsterdam and a researcher at the Institute of Labour Studies of Tilburg University.
